Charlotte, NC | On Monday, April 8, the Crestdale 7th Grade Band, under the direction of Mr. Jason Robison, performed on stage at the Belk Theater in uptown Charlotte as part of the third annual "A Musical Showcase." Sponsored by Charlotte Concerts, the event features the musical talent of schools from across CMS, including vocal and instrumental performances. The Crestdale 7th Grade Band was one of only a handful of acts selected to participate in the showcase.
The selection process begins in the fall. Individual acts submit a recording of their choice to Charlotte Concerts. The audition committee then conducts a blind review of all submissions to determine participation in the event. Crestdale was the only middle school band invited to participate.
The Crestdale 7th Grade Band performed two selections for a packed crowd of approximately 2,000 audience members. Mr. Robison remarked that the band performed "...on one of the biggest and brightest stages in North Carolina... [It will] truly be a memorable experience."
Mr. Robison expressed gratitude to Mr. Todd, Crestdale orchestra teacher, for supporting him in logistical planning over the course of the year. Additional appreciation also goes out to the Crestdale Band Booster and our Crestdale families, who support Crestdale students in achieving excellence in the fine arts.
Band students will perform their spring repertoires for the Crestdale community in early May. The 6th Grade Band performance will take place at Crestdale on Tuesday, May 7, beginning at 6 PM. The 7th & 8th Grade Bands will perform at Providence High School on Tuesday, May 14, beginning at 6 PM. All are welcome to attend.
Congratulations to the 7th Grade Band!
